Helen Rose Hennessy

Artist - Original Watercolors


Helen has been drawing and painting since Grammar School days.However, upon graduation from High School she first pursued a career in Nursing.She is married to her partner and business Manager Rick.They have 5 children.While continuing her nursing profession Helen went back to school and received a BA in Art from Regis College in Weston, MA.She has taken several courses in watercolor at the Worcester Art Museum (MA) and continues to hone her artistic skills by attending various workshops in the seacoast area.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

We are custodians of the worlds’
beauty. We strive to re-create in our
limited way what only the Creator has
created perfectly. What joy to perhaps
at times capture but a tiny reflection
of the world’s majestic beauty and
to share it with others.

In 1994 the Hennessy’s became full time residents of York Beach where Helen has become more active and involved in her life long love of art. She now works and exhibits her original watercolors at the Sea Rose Gallery in York Beach, ME.Helen is known for depicting the constantly changing patterns and colors of the sky and sea as uniquely viewed from her oceanfront home, studio and gallery. Two of her favorite watercolor subjects are Nubble View and Eastern Point.In addition to seascapes, she also specializes in landscapes, architecture and florals.

Helen is a member of the York Art Association, Yorks Chamber of Commerce, Seacoast Art Association and Maine Women in the Arts. Her work is on exhibition nearly every month in the York area at one of the local businesses in partnership with the York Art Association. Open to community involvement, her artwork is hung as a rotating exhibit at the York Town Hall.She has participated in York's Art in the Park, Harvestfest, the Prelude Show in Kennebunkport, and at Artsource, Y.M.C.A in Portsmouth, NH.Helen’s artwork can also be seen at the York Village Craft, Antique & Gift Shop in York Village, The Nubble Light Gift Shop in Sohier Park, The Lobster Cove Restaurant in York Harbor and the Goldenrod Tearoom Gift Shop in York Beach.
In 2001, Helen won First Place at the York 45th Annual Show at the York Art Association and in 1998 Helen won BEST IN THE SHOW at the September Art in the Park and Honorable Mention in the juried July Annual Show.
